Inspection, Cleaning and Storing

1st Step

Corn classifiers inspect and classify arriving corn shipments. Various machineries are employed to clean the corn of any foreign materials. And then, the cleaned corn are weighed and transported to the silos.

Steeping

2nd Step

Each stainless steel steep tank holds corn for 40 to 50 hours soaking in 50 degree Celsius water. The addition of 0.1 percent sulfur dioxide to the water prevents excessive bacterial growth in the warm environment. As the corn swells and softens, the mild acidity of the steep water begins to loosen the gluten bonds within the corn and release the starch. After steeping, the corn is coarsely ground to break the germ loose from other components. The ground corn, in a water slurry, flows to the germ separators.

Germ Separation

3rd Step

Cyclone separators spin the low density corn germ out of the slurry. The germ, which contains about 85% of the corn's oil, is pumped onto screens and washed repeatedly to remove any starch left in the mixture.

Fine Grinding and Screening

4th Step

The corn and water slurry leaves the germ separator for a second, more thorough, grinding in an impact or attrition-impact mill to release the starch and gluten from the fiber in the kernel. The suspension of starch, gluten and fiber flows over fixed concave screens (illustrated) which catch fiber but allow starch and gluten to pass through. The fiber is collected, slurried and screened again to reclaim any residual starch or protein, which is then used as a major ingredient of animal feeds. The starch-gluten suspension, called mill starch, is piped to the starch separators.

Starch Separation and Washing

5th Step

Gluten has a low density compared to starch. By passing mill starch through a centrifuge, the gluten is readily spun out for use in animal feeds. The starch, with just one or two percent protein remaining, is diluted, washed 8 to 14 times, rediluted and washed again in hydrocyclones to remove the last trace of protein and produce high quality starch, typically greater than 99.5 percent pure.

Dewatering and Drying

6th Step

After the separation of the various components of the corn kernel, the respective slurries are dewatered using dewatering centrifuges and decanters. And then, the starch and other by-products are dried up to the desired moisture level using flash dryers and tube bundle dryers to produce the final products ready for packaging.

Last Step

After undergone on series of complex steps all the products are dried up to the desired moisture level using flash dryers and tube bundle dryers to produce the final products ready for packaging.

Opening of New and Fortified Industrial Complex Gate

In early Monday morning of February 16, 2015 the new gate of Lamsan's Inc. Industrial Complex opens to all employees and visitors, The old gate is still open strictly for exit purposes only and exclusive for all shipment trucks.

BTSI Relief Activity

April 20-21, 2020

Last April 20-21, 2020, The Bangsamoro Terminal Services Inc. (BTSI), the cargo handling unit of the Lamsan Group of Companies, teamed up with PFEZ-BARMM headed by Mr. Iharyf Sucol and other organizations in conducting #ALAYSAKABABAYAN Relief Operation for Barangay Polloc and Nearby Barangays. BTSI donatqed a total of 25 sacks of rice with 50 kilos capacity equally divided among households identified as poorest among the poor. A total of 650 families from Brgy. Polloc and Brgy. Sarmiento were successfully given reliefs.

PPE Distribution in CRMC

Through the initiative of Lamsan’s Company Physician, Dr. Leopoldo P. Lugtu, and the assistance of RBOI BARMM Executive Director, Hexsan O. Mabang, and the Office of the Chief Minister, Ahod B. Ebrahim, Al Haj, represented by Mohamad Murad U. Pasigan, Executive Assistant IV, the Lamsan Group donated a total of 100 protective medical suits for our courageous and dedicated frontliners at the Cotabato Regional and Medical Center last April 20, 2020.

We would like to thank Dr. Helen P. Yambao, CRMC Chief of Hospital, for accepting our donation and in assisting in the distribution of PPE’s to the different departments of CRMC. To our frontliners, know that you are our heroes in this fight against COVID-19.

This is the least we can do to show our appreciation and gratitude to your service and sacrifice.

The Lamsan Group’s Covid-19 Relief Operation

Last April 8, 2020, The Lamsan Group donated a total of 1,600 relief packages to the residents of Brgy. Dalumangcob and Brgy. Crossing Simuay under the Municipality of Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao, in support to our fellowmen greatly affected by the Covid-19 crisis. Together with the SK MDRMMO representative, Mr. Kadir Bleim, the relief packages were turned over to Barangay Captain Mario Taba for Dalumangcob and Barangay Captain Guiaber Dalindig for Crossing Simuay. Special thanks to our employees who helped in the preparation and in making this relief operation a successful one! Kudos to everyone! #LamsanCares
